Any metal that can be drawn into a wire can be applied with the metalized process at CMC. The most commonly applied coatings are carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze, molybdenum and copper.

The metalizing process is used extensively as a maintenance tool to rebuild worn shafts, sleeves, rings, bearing fits, rolls and other machine parts. Any part that has been metalized using one of the designated metals or alloys can then be finished to the original dimensions.

With the proper selection of coatings, any reclaimed part will often last longer than the original part. An example of this would be to rebuild a carbon steel shaft with a high chrome stainless steel coating, thus extending the life of the shaft.

This metalizing process is widely used for spraying zinc and aluminum for corrosion protection.
